Corporate Diwali Gifts: What to Send, and When to Order It

Ten weeks out is the right time to be reading this. The first week of November is not.

A corporate gift is read as a statement about how much attention was paid. Not how much was spent — how much attention. Everybody who receives one can tell the difference between a thing that was chosen and a thing that was procured in the last week of October, and the second kind is the overwhelming majority.

The fix is almost entirely calendar, not budget.

Working backwards from 8 November

Diwali 2026 is Sunday 8 November. The five days run from Dhanteras on Friday 6 November to Bhai Dooj on Tuesday 10 November. That gives you one hard deadline and it is earlier than the festival: gifts want to land before Dhanteras, because from the 6th onwards people are travelling, offices empty out, and courier networks are carrying their heaviest load of the year.

So the date to plan against is Thursday 5 November. Everything else counts backwards from there.

Mid-September — decide
Headcount, budget per head, and one person who owns the decision. Gifting projects fail most often because three people each assumed another was choosing.
Early October — order
Anything involving custom printing, assembly or a card takes a small supplier three to four weeks. Off-the-shelf tins are faster, but October is when every small supplier in India is at capacity.
Last week of October — dispatch
Courier transit times across India stretch noticeably in the fortnight before Diwali. Build in slack you would not need in June.
5 November — the real deadline
A gift arriving on the 9th or 10th reads as an afterthought, because by then it is one. If you are going to be late, it is better to be early for something else.

What survives, and what goes in a drawer

One test cuts through most of this. Will the recipient still be using it in February?

Dry fruit boxes
The default choice, which is precisely the problem. There is nothing wrong with them except that your recipient may open six identical ones and cannot tell you afterwards which was yours.
Sweets
Perishable, and they arrive in the one week when every household already has more mithai than it can get through. A gift that starts a clock is a small obligation dressed as a present.
Branded desk objects
A pen stand with your logo on it is a gift to your marketing department. The recipient is being asked to decorate their desk with your brand, and most of them decline.
Consumables that keep
Sealed, shelf-stable, used a little at a time. The virtue is duration — it is present in someone's week for two months rather than one evening, and it leaves nothing to store when it is finished.

Where tea works, and where it does not

We sell herbal infusions, so treat what follows with the appropriate suspicion — but the honest version is more useful to you than the flattering one.

It fails outright for anyone who does not drink hot drinks, and no amount of packaging fixes that. Loose petals also need a strainer or an infuser, which plenty of offices simply do not have; if your gift needs equipment the recipient lacks, you have given them an errand. A small card with the brewing method helps, though a gift that needs instructions has already lost part of the room.

The realistic aim across fifty people is not fifty hits. It is being a good gift for thirty-five and an entirely inoffensive one for the rest — which is a much better outcome than a fifty-way compromise nobody remembers.

One factual point in its favour, and it is a fact about the plants rather than a claim about health: chamomile, hibiscus, butterfly pea and lavender are not the tea plant and contain no caffeine at all. For a gift going to a mixed group at unknown hours, that removes a variable.

A checklist for whoever has been handed this

If this landed on your desk with three weeks' notice, work through these in order.

Headcount plus ten percent
People get missed off lists, late joiners exist, and something always arrives damaged. Spare units cost less than a second order in November.
Settle the address problem first
Home delivery for a distributed team multiplies both cost and courier risk; office delivery concentrates it into one drop. Decide before you order, not after.
Personalise properly or not at all
A hand-signed card naming the person beats a printed logo every time. Half-personalised — a mail-merged name on a template — reads worse than a plain gift honestly given.
Ask about invoicing in the first email
Confirm exactly what documentation your finance team needs from the vendor before you place the order. This is the single most common reason a corporate gift order stalls after everything else is agreed.
Order one sample and look at it
Buy a single unit of the actual gift and put it on a desk. Five minutes with the real object catches more problems than any amount of discussion about it.

What we can do, plainly: tins and pouches in two sizes, dispatched from Bhiwadi in two to four working days, ordered by talking to us on WhatsApp. What we cannot do is an automated bulk portal, or a miracle in the first week of November.

Whoever you order from, the useful thing you can do today is the boring one — pick the number of people, pick the per-head figure, and put the order date in the calendar for early October.
